The very best skincare products for oily skin
Oily skin can be SO ANNOYING; but what are the best skincare products for oily skin?
Great question, you’ve come to the right place. The best skincare products for oily skin are as follows:
These products will help you maintain and manage your oily skin, making life just that bit easier.
As someone that has had extremely oily skin for their entire life, I know your pain.
No matter what products you use, you still end up with your T-zone slick with oil only a few hours after getting out of the shower in the morning.
You’ll go to the bathroom to blot the oil from your face throughout the day.
It’s tough. But an important thing to remember is it’s completely natural.
Says medical director and co-founder of Dermatology Associates of New York, Dr. Debbie Palmer. Despite this, there are some amazing products that can help you out with your oily skin.
An important thing to note is that everyones skin is different, and will react differently.
It’s possible you may not get the same results.
Everyone has their own unique set of skin.
More oil = less oil
This is a fundamental concept to understand, which I know, is somewhat counterintuitive. But as dermatologist Melanie D. Palm explains,
Because of this, using a fair amount of natural oils in your routine, and minimising harsh cleansers and products, can restore your skins natural oil barrier.
Know that we know the science behind it, let’s dive into the best, Holy Grail status products for oily skin.
1. BIORE UV Perfect Milk
I first tried this sunscreen from Biore a few months ago, and it has already changed my perspective on oily skin.
I use it like any other sunscreen (at the very end of your routine) however it has an extremely watery consistency, which may be surprising.
Only a small amount is needed to cover the entire face, and it leaves no white cast (from my own experience), despite such a bright white colour of the milk.
It leaves your face looking matt and smooth, while also adding a certain brightness and glow that looks stunning in natural light.
Normally by the time I would get home from work, after periodically dabbing my forehead throughout the day, my face would be slick with oil.
Like dripping, with oil.
But that was then. After trying the Biore UV perfect milk for the first time, I realised I didn’t need to dab away any oil… it just wasn’t there. And by the time I got home from work, my t-zone had a healthy glow.
Not dripping with oil, but a light, radiant sheen.
I was genuinely shocked, and somewhat baffled as to where the oil went ( I still don’t 100% know, and at this point, I’m too afraid to find out).
It’s my personal Holy Grail, and one of the best skincare products for oily skin.
2. Missha UV Pore Blur
I first discovered this product on r/SkinCareAddiction, (I’m guessing that’s where most of you get your skincare recommendations as well) and I was not disappointed.
It can be used as a makeup starter, or as a sunscreen by itself, and has a smooth and velvety texture.
As you could guess from its name, it has pore blurring elements; making it somewhat similar to a tinted sunscreen, however it maintains a natural look and feel.
It will also leave your face feeling matt throughout the day, somehow holding back all the oil your skin wants to normally drown your face in.
It’s one of the best skincare products for oily skin.
3. The Ordinary ‘B’ Oil
A key element that helps with oily skin, is to maintain it’s moisture, keeping the oil production at bay.
This oil in particular is extremely nourishing and moisturising, with a blend of micro-algae, squalene, and natural oils such as marula, argan, rosehip and borage.
I personally mix it with aloe gel in the AM and PM for a creamy and gentle moisturiser.
At night I tend to put even more oil into the mix, which I’ve noticed directly correlates with how much oil my skin produces the next day.
Keep in mind as well, that most other natural oils will work in the same way, and you’re not just limited to The Ordinary.
If you have been struggling with oil however, I would definitely recommend loading on the natural oils at night, and see how your skin is the next day.
Easily one of the best skincare products for oily skin.
4. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
This mask is simply just green clay, which *cough* is hardly a ‘secret’. However green clay has a wide array of skin benefits, including for oily skin types.
It cleanses pores of sebum and excess oil, while helping balance your skins pH levels, while further promoting cell regeneration, for brighter, more radiant skin.
I have a tub of my own in my bathroom – and writing this article actually reminded me to use it tonight.
It’s definitely one of the best skincare products for oily skin.

5. Oil Blotters
Oil blotters are just convenient. You can keep them in your bag, or purse, or glove box, for when you need to quickly remove that extra shine.
They’re extremely thin paper, (similar to tissue paper) and can soak up an insane amount of oil.
They can be pretty cheap for how much you get and for the price, they’re extremely useful.
pssstt… Unsure of what order to apply your skincare products?
We get it. It’s confusing. No one sits you down when you’re a child, and tells you timmy, here’s how to layer your skincare. Unfortunately it’s a cold dark world out there.
People in reddit threads through around recommendations for oils, spot treatments, eye cream, and just… expect you to know when to apply them.
Here’s a quick article on the ultimate order to for your skincare routine. You’re welcome.
